Removing Decal, Sticker, and Tape Adhesive from Carpet and Hard Surface Floors
While most of us are growing weary of the constant reminders and warnings to maintain a 6 foot separation in distance from other people when we are in virtually any business, the on-going nature of the COVID-19 pandemic will require these decals stay in place. But what about when they need to be moved or the arrangement changed? Even better yet, at some point with the vaccines on the horizon, things will return to some semblance of normalcy, and all the decals and stickers will be removed from the carpet and floors. When that happens, another less threatening “pandemic” will occur. All these decals, stickers, and tape will leave behind a sticky soil attracting residue that will quickly turn into a dark spot or line.
Fortunately, HydraMaster manufactures the most effective adhesive remover in the cleaning industry – HydraMaster OJ.
Here are the procedures you can follow to remove this sticky residue quickly, safely, and effectively from carpeting:
If you are cleaning the entire room or rooms of carpet:
- Apply a Carpet prespray with solvent additives like Quake HD, Blitz with GreaseBreaker, or Fast Break to the entire carpet to be cleaned according to directions
- Apply HydraMaster OJ as a gel sparingly to the areas affected by the adhesive.
- Agitate the OJ into the adhesive with a spotting spatula or tamping brush
- Extract the carpet in a normal manner with as hot of water as possible and as safe for the carpet fiber
If you are just removing the adhesive residue:
- Apply HydraMaster OJ as a gel sparingly to the areas affected by the adhesive.
- Agitate the OJ into the adhesive with a spotting spatula or tamping brush
- Extract the carpet in a normal manner with as hot of water as possible and as safe for the carpet fiber
For hard surface floors:
- Pretest the HydraMaster OJ in an inconspicuous area for any potential negative effects on the flooring material.
- Apply HydraMaster OJ as a gel sparingly to the areas affected by the adhesive.
- If possible, extract area with hot water utilizing a rotary or stationary hard surface cleaning wand
- If an extractor is not available, remove OJ and adhesive residue with automatic floor scrubber, towel or mop using as hot of water as possible and a safe neutral floor cleaning agent.
